Jacobs' Lack of Interest Hints to Return, but Why Not Green Bay or Oakland?

Brandon Jacobs won his second Super Bowl with the Giants in 2011 but it appeared that his run with the team would end before the 2012 season. Despite asking for what some thought of a relatively low contract of $2 million per season, the Giants offered an even lower total and Jacobs balked at the offer. Though now that he is part of the free agent pool of running backs that, to this point, have received surprisingly low contracts and opportunity, it appears Jacobs could be forced to sign a reduced contract with his former club.

The Dallas Cowboys had a serious need at corner back in 2011. In order to stay competitive in the QB strong NFC, the Cowboys had to fix this weakness either through the 2012 NFL Draft or NFL Free Agency. Though the draft is still an option, the Cowboys did elect to sign corner back Brandon Carr away from the Kansas City Chiefs and give their secondary an immediate face lift. While Brandon Carr was considered one of the best corners on the free agent market, free agent Chris Carr isn’t ranked too far below him.
